Teach Yourself Violin
Hey there
This teach yourself violin website is my story. My name is Karen and if you’re looking to find out whether it is possible to teach yourself violin then I’m glad you’ve found your way here. I get huge enjoyment from playing my violin everyday – I even play regularly in an amateur orchestra – and I am completely self-taught.

I am passionate about classical music and have always had a particular love of the violin but unfortunately never had the opportunity of any formal music training when I was young. A couple of years ago I thought about having lessons but when I looked into it the expense was very off-putting – I mean I was in my late 30s so it was highly unlikely that I was ever going to be a top class professional. So I started looking at various options on how I could teach myself the violin.
My friends thought it would probably be a waste of time to try and teach yourself violin as it must be ‘one of the most difficult instruments to learn’. But my thought was that people don’t bat an eyelid if you tell them you are going to teach yourself guitar so why should learning to play the violin on your own be any different?
I think that if you have a real love for a particular instrument and the music it creates then you should be able to maintain an interest in that in that instrument. And that to me is the key because it does take effort and dedication. Teaching yourself any instrument is not an easy option and anyone who tells you otherwise is not being entirely truthful. You can teach yourself violin if that is what you are committed to. So whether you are investing in lessons in person from a qualified teacher or you have found DVDs that will teach you, make sure you seriously question your motivation.
Now I am not a super gifted musician by any stretch and I also had to knuckle down brush up on my music reading. I mostly relied on various free online lessons to begin with and bought a couple of DVDs as it is useful to have both visual and audio aids particularly when you’re starting out. It was a struggle to begin with. There were times when everything seemed hopeless and I came close to ditching my violin. But for many musicians, reminding yourself of how much effort you have already put in to learning to play your instrument and the ultimate satisfaction you will gain once you have achieved your goal, is key.
The Ultimate Teach Yourself Violin Course
I stuck with it and started improving bit by bit but there was one teach yourself violin program that I came across which really helped me to speed up my learning curve. I discovered it when I stumbled across a thread in a music forum where they were discussing its pros and cons. There is a little too much hype on the website for my liking but, that said, it is not totally unjustified.
And you may also be pleasantly surprised to find that this course costs little more than the cost of one or two private violin lessons so don’t put it off any longer – see how you too can start to teach yourself violin today. If you are starting out playing violin as a beginner like I once used to be, then remember that it is not about being able to afford proper violin lessons. Learning the violin by yourself need not be more difficult than doing so with a teacher, as long as you have belief in yourself and a strong commitment. Just keep using all the available resources that you can and you will see a progressive improvement. Decide now to teach yourself violin!
